
Professor of Global Economy and Deputy Dean of Cranfield School of Management, Joe Nellis is an Irish-born economist from Belfast with four decades of experience commenting on UK, European and Global macro-economic trends.
He graduated from the University of Ulster in 1976, and since then has published 19 research and subject-based books and over 200 academic and practitioner journal articles. His research encompasses analysis of business developments in a changing world in terms of the macroeconomy, the role of government, the impact of technology, and societal and demographic trends.
Joe is a frequent commentator on issues such as public investment, GDP and growth, tax and the wider economy, as well as data points such as inflation, unemployment and interest rates. He has held Visiting Professorial appointments at various universities in Germany, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, Hungary, the USA and Ghana, and has been our economic adviser since February 2024.
He often travels to Ballycastle to visit his family and enjoy the coast and the great sights including the Giant’s Causeway. As a keen golfer, he follows The Masters and roots for Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry.
