Standing out in your assessment centre
At Baker Tilly Ireland, we believe that everyone brings something unique to the table. Our assessment process is designed to help us understand who you are beyond your CV.
The Assessment Centre is your chance to show us your skills, creativity and, most importantly, your authentic self. We are not only interested in what you know, but in who you are and the perspective you bring.
How it works
The day will consist of a variety of activities including:
Team activities
Work with other candidates on practical tasks where every contribution matters. Show how you collaborate, communicate and add value to a team.
Individual activities
Take part in exercises that allow you to demonstrate your personal skills, giving you the chance to stand out and show us what you can achieve.
Get to know our team
Meet current students and ask them questions on what life at Baker Tilly is really like.
How to stand out
Be yourself and back yourself
The most important thing you can do is be yourself. At Baker Tilly we value individuality and want to get to know the real you.
There is no need to put on a corporate mask. Share your personality, your values and your passions. Focus on being the best version of yourself rather than comparing yourself to others.
Preparation matters
We do not expect you to know everything about Baker Tilly, but doing some research will give you an advantage. Take time to learn about our STAR values (Service, Teamwork, Attitude and Relationships) and think about how they connect with your own approach.
If you are asked to prepare any tasks or presentations, practise in advance so you feel confident on the day. Good preparation shows commitment and will help you perform at your best.
Every idea counts
Do not be afraid to share your ideas, even if they feel different from the rest. Creativity and innovation are important to us, and fresh thinking often leads to the best solutions.
Be open to listening, brainstorming and building on each other’s contributions.
Work well with others
Teamwork is central to how we work. Use the group tasks to show how you contribute positively, whether by offering ideas, supporting others, or helping the team stay focused.
We are not only looking for leaders but also for good collaborators who understand the value of working together. It’s not about being the loudest in the room, but putting yourself out there and showing up, even in small ways.
Show energy and interest
We are looking for people who take part with enthusiasm and purpose. Engage fully in the process, ask thoughtful questions, and show your interest in both the role and Baker Tilly as a firm.
Remember, the assessment centre is a two-way process. It is a chance for us to get to know you and for you to decide if we are the right place for you.
