James K Smith

James joined MHA as a Partner and Head of Global Mobility in 2024.

James has over 13 years-experience in global mobility, primarily at Big 4, advising companies on all aspects of having an international workforce, including employer and employee tax compliance, global payroll requirements, international social security, and creation of policies and approaches to developing, revitalising or expanding an international mobility programme.

James brings a wealth of experience in all things global mobility. Having worked across some of the largest and most complex international mobility programmes, as well as with employers with a burgeoning international presence (including those with their first international people), he is able to advise on optimal people strategies and compliance obligations for all employers.

Outside of work James is a keen endurance sport athlete. He has completed 3 ironman's, and countless marathons and has races booked in Sweden and Poland already in 2025. 

James also has a miniature schnauzer named Jeffrey and is learning Spanish.
