Reka's story

Feb 27, 2026

Hi, I’m Reka and I am a Senior Marketing Executive. My career has taken me across industries, countries and challenges I never expected, and each step has helped me discover the kind of work that brings out the best in me. Today I feel proud to be in a role that allows me to create, solve problems and connect with people in a way that feels true to who I am.

Where my journey began

As a child, I didn’t have a clear answer to the question of what I wanted to do when I grew up. What I did know was how I wanted to work. I imagined an environment that was challenging and creative, dynamic yet structured, where I could use my project management skills and collaborate with others.

My journey has been anything but linear. I moved across industries, roles, responsibilities and even relocated to Ireland from Hungary, often finding myself thrown into deep water and learning to swim as I went. What continues to inspire me is the mix of creativity, analysis, problem solving and human connection that marketing brings together. It is where data meets imagination and where you can build something meaningful while focusing on people.

I thrive when I am able to be myself. For years I tried to fit into a mould I thought society expected of me, until I learned to fully embrace who I am, both professionally and personally.

Growing through challenges

I have faced my fair share of impostor syndrome. The more you know, the more aware you become of everything you do not know. It took time and specialist support for me to understand that not having all the answers is not a flaw, and that my achievements deserve to be seen without a grey filter.

What keeps me motivated is doing work I enjoy with people I genuinely like. No job is perfect every day, and that is completely normal. What matters is that most days challenge you, excite you and make you proud. When that is true, it becomes much easier to show up ready for whatever comes next.

How my career unfolded

My journey began in PR, long before PR majors existed in Hungary. I studied Social Studies first, then Communications, while working at McDonald’s to support myself. That experience gave me an early crash course in pressure, time management and persistence.

From there I interned at creative agencies, worked with global brands, moved into account management and eventually discovered my true passion for marketing. That passion led me to complete my MSc, spend several years supporting marketing operations in Hungary and eventually achieved a long-time dream of moving to Ireland.

What I have learned and advice I would share

The advice I would give to anyone early in their career is the same advice I would give my younger self. Trust yourself. Your strength is already there, even if you cannot name it yet. Surround yourself with people who support you with kindness, encouragement and honest feedback. Those are the voices that will help you grow.

Do not be afraid to try something new or step into the unknown. Saying “I am not sure it will work, but I will try and do my best” is not uncertainty. It is courage. Asking for help is not a weakness. It is often exactly what you need.

Progress is made through trying, learning, adjusting and trying again. You do not need to have everything figured out. You simply need to trust your own strength, take the next step and allow yourself to grow into who you are becoming.
