The European Financial Forum was held in Dublin last week, with a top line up of speakers including senior executives such as Colm Kelleher President of Morgan Stanley, BlackRock’s Jim Barry and European Central Bank (ECB) board member Benoit Coeure. A broad range of topics were covered including rising interest rate, what is expected in relation to stock market performance and of course the potential effects of Brexit still largely unknown and much anticipated.

The day brought together both international and local industry executives, professionals and regulators. The success of the 3rd annual event and the calibre of attendees is a sure sign of the relevance of Ireland as a central cog in the global financial services machine.

This year’s conference was under the title of “Building a New Future for International Financial Services”. At Baker Tilly Hughes Blake we are aligned with this new future, we assist international companies with meeting their local regulatory and reporting obligations as they establish themselves in Ireland. We work across asset management, insurance, banking and asset finance in conjunction with the member firms of the global Baker Tilly network.

Providing services to investment managers based out of London and as far off as India as they develop new fund structures in Ireland to access the European single market. Providing insurance companies with certificates of solvency and financial projections required for Central Bank applications as they set up offices and operations here. Providing tax advice to asset finance companies on their establishment and the international VAT implications of their structure and transactions.

Working in the global Financial Services industry we collaborate with our international colleagues who are best in class in the areas which they specialise. Adding expertise to as we work with our colleagues in Frankfurt on a recent project in the banking sector. Where Baker Tilly GmbH & Co. KG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft have been recently appointed as the auditor for the ECB.

At Baker Tilly Hughes Blake we assist our international colleagues as they bring their clients to Ireland and we assist our local clients to become international.
